I would first like to say that this is not a lie, this is indeed what is going to happen, and what is said below is my thoughts, and not those of any other staff member or member or other person.
I would just like to let you all know that mAsDesigns will indeed be closing down permanently starting from sometime at the weekend. Unfortunately I do not know of the exact times etc...
The reasons behind this I am 100% not clear of, but I know that a severe lack of activity by various people has helped to lead to this decision, and unfortunately it is one that I don't support, and I know there are other staff that feel the same as me. As well as many members.
Some members though will wholeheartedly agree with the idea, and some of the staff will too.
I would like to thank some people though for what they have done both for me and for mAsDesigns:
1) Sven - Ok so we spoke loads, and you bugged me to do stuff, but where have you gone dude? :-/ without you, mAsDesigns wouldn't have existed!
2) Sunjo - Some seriously good work was done between us 2 I do think, releasing some truly innovative interface skins, that I now see have began to take off on PB... Another fad similar to the space sig fad?
3) Firestorm - What a legend, what can I say in such a small space? Nothing, I think I'll just keep quiet, he knows that I think of him as more than a friend. Perhaps sometime we'll get together in a Northern UK Meet .. who knows. :-/
4) Reckks and Kronus Fuck it, I'll call you by your real names, as I think we have known each other long enough to do that? Mark & Dayton. I would have put you both separate but I couldn't decide who to put first etc... To put it simply, you two are awesome, having stuck with mD for... well.. forever. It's truly amazing :) And I look forward to sW with you both, and perhaps even some further work together?
5) Carmichael, Fredy & Sonic... The 'Mods' not the shitty mods either, though it may look like they do nothing (with some being absent from time to time) without them, I'd be insane... ok, slightly more insane... but they're all a brilliant group of people. Whether flirting with Sonic (is he straight?) and admiring Fredy's and CarMichael's locking abilities. I have never been able to lock that well... :-/ Teach me?
6) The other members/staff - I'm not going to go through naming everyone else but people like: The_D, majortopio, Panda (yes I still remember you!), Marda, System, psmasterq, Dude, Aussie, Xikeon etc... you're all good people, you'll all excel at designing. Perhaps one of you will be so kind as to teach me to design? :P
Finally I think it's worth mentioning a couple of things about mAsDesigns.
For those of you that are interested, the codes that are used here will be released to the public. However, the exact time/date I do not know yet. I also need to find a place to post them. The points code, wont be released, simply because it uses my bandwidth I doesn't like that! :P
Also, to mention, mAsDesigns v1 will (unless it's hosted on my server - which I think it isn't) remain to be active unless Sven/Sunjo decide otherwise.
So until we all next meet, be cool, and add me on MSN: wright.michaele@passport.com
Apologies again for the short notice, it would have been shorter if I left it, but I thought you should all know ASAP!

That's it from me!
Take care, and please feel free to reply!
I'm sure most people saw this message. I don't want to let mD rest on a negative note. My reason is out there, people have seen it and complained about it already.
mAsDesigns will not be returning ever, for those that haven't realised what mD's name stood for. It was Mind and Sight Designs which also was Metroid and Sven Designs - if you don't know who Metroid is, take a look at Sunjo's history.
For all new people who stumble upon mAsDesigns through tutorials. This site no longer exists, people in the world are yet to understand that digital designing is a harsh world and many could not cope with it. A prime example is what happened to this place. If you are looking at our tutorials and wish to start a graphics design community; all I can really say to you is Goodluck, you're going to need it
Ok, this is difficult.
Where to start?
Why am I leaving...
I'm tired.. to put it simply, just tired of everything.
I'm tired of the noobs, I'm tired of people bringing up my ripping past just to satisfy their ego, I'm tired of the work. This place is no longer fun for me, it's a job.
To add to it, another thing is that we have been the #1 graphics community despite all of the hell we went through to get there, for nearly 6 months now. Yet we've seen many forums make it to the proboards main page, that didn't deserve to be there if mAsDesigns was not.
Let's face it, design sites are dying. And despite mD's unbelievable activity, it would of soon died as well.
Now for the good...
To start, the reasons mentioned above are not my only reason for leaving, I simply have 0 time for this place lately, I've been so busy with other things I forget to even check mD at all sometimes.
The resources will still be available though, so use them as you wish.
To anyone who wants to call me a ripper, I am better than you will EVER be, yes.. if you can't realize what is right in front of you, you will never be as good of a designer, as the person you accuse to be a ripper.
Awesome people:
Sven - Great guy, we'll still talk after this, and often.. yes, sven knows what I'm referring to.
Wrighty - The BEST proboards coder around, I don't care what you think, he is, now stfu. Thanks for being awesome, is pretty much all I have to say. Go far with coding man.
Majortopio - Fun times on CS:S, and I've always enjoyed your debates.. Long time friend, despite the twists and turns.
Yes, this is the end. We're letting mD rest eternally.
I will not re-open mD this time.
Goodbye everyone, thanks for the fun times, thanks for the knowledge I gained by running this place.

Stone Ball « Thread Started on Nov 14, 2007, 10:47pm »
First off create a new document, I'll be using the size 493x389.
Fill the canvas with white, and make a new layer. Now take the elliptical marquee tool and hold Shift to make a perfect circle like so.
Fill the selection with the color #a51111. You should now have something like this:
Now right click on the layer, and select 'Blending Options'. Select Inner Glow, and use these settings.
You should now have something like this:
Now right click on this layer and click "Convert to Smart Object", then right click again on the layer and select "Rasterize Layer". Now right click again and select 'Blending Options'. Select Inner Glow and use these settings.
What all this does is create more of a 3d aspect. It helps a lot later on in the tutorial.
Now we're going to give it a dark flare, which will help the 3d aspect a lot later on as well.
Make a new layer. Select the Elliptical Marquee tool again and make a selection like this:
Now fill this selection with black and set the layer style to "Overlay" at 10% Opacity.
You should now have something like this:
Now grab the Elliptical Marquee tool again and make a selection like below:
Now fill this selection with black, and set the layer style to "Overlay" at 10% Opacity.
You should now have something like this:
Now hit 'B' on your keyboard and reset your brushes. Now change your foreground color to white. Select a 65 pixel soft round brush and click where I have the brush shown below:
You should now have something like this:
Now here's the tricky part, and where it will require a steady hand.
First, make a new layer. Select the Elliptical Marquee tool and make a circle the size of your orb.
You should have made a circle like this:
Now select the gradient tool and make a black to transparent gradient like below:
Now (with the gradient tool selected) make a line going from the bottom left, to the top right like below:
Note: Make SURE you do not de-select your elliptical marquee selection!
Now set this layer to 70% Opacity. Now, with the circle still selected, make a new layer, and select the gradient tool. Make a white to transparent gradient like below:
Now (with the gradient tool selected) make a line going from the top right, to the bottom left like below:
Set this layer to 'Overlay' at 40% Opacity. You should now have something similar to this:
Now this is the part that makes the stone ball look like.. stone. Go to Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Hue/Saturation. And use these settings:
You should now have something like the below image:
I actually forgot to explain how to add a shadow earlier in the tutorial, so I will explain it here.
To add a shadow: Make a new layer directly above the white BG layer. And make a selection like this:
Now right click inside the selection and click 'Feather'. Use 20 pixels for the feather radius. Now fill the selection with black.
You should now have something like this:
And you're done, add some grunge brushing, and you should have something like this:
